Exploring the Home Tab in Unified Solutions CAD
The Home Tab in Unified Solutions’ CAD system is your command center for day-to-day dispatch activity. It gives you a live, centralized view of all incidents, units, and their current statuses helping you make fast, informed decisions.
Default Landing View
When you access the CAD module, the Home Tab is the default screen.
Here, you’ll find a real-time dashboard showing:
- All active incidents
- All units currently in service
- The status of each unit
This layout makes it easy for dispatchers to quickly assess the situation at a glance.
Customizing Your View
At the top of the Home Tab, you’ll notice a gear icon. This lets you switch between different layout options based on your workflow needs:
- Default View – Displays both the map and the incidents/units grid.
- Map Only – Focuses solely on real-time unit locations.
- Incident/Unit Only – Hides the map and shows only the data grids.
- Map & Grids Only – Expands the map with data grids alongside.
Choose the layout that makes it easiest for you to monitor and manage dispatch activity.
Understanding the Map
The live map gives a visual snapshot of unit activity:
- Green icons = Available units
- Red icons = Units currently assigned to an incident
- Black icons = Units marked as Enroute, On Scene, Transporting, or At Destination
This color-coded map helps you see who’s available and where they are at a glance.
Activating a Unit
Before dispatching, units must be activated:
- Click the Activate Unit button.
- From the pop-up, choose the unit you want to activate.
- Other details will auto-fill, and the unit becomes active.
Managing Vehicles
The Vehicle Management button takes you to the vehicle settings screen.
Here, you can add or update vehicles. Once configured, they’ll appear in the Units Tab and can be assigned to new incidents.
Adding a New Incident
To log a new case:
- Click Add New Incident.
- You’ll be redirected to the ePCR page to enter the details.
- Once saved, the incident appears on the Home Tab and is ready for dispatch.
Dispatching Units
In the incident list at the bottom of the Home Tab:
- Click the arrow under the Actions column.
- Select Dispatch.
After selecting a unit:
- It turns red on the map
- Its status updates to Assigned
Managing Active Units
Return to the Actions dropdown for the assigned unit, where you can:
- Deactivate the unit
- Complete the incident
- Cancel the dispatch
Also, clicking directly on a unit’s status opens a dropdown where you can manually update it (e.g., Enroute, On Scene, etc.).
Summary
The Home Tab brings together mapping, incident tracking, and unit management into a single, real-time dashboard. It’s a powerful space to coordinate field operations efficiently.
